Looking to help a family or two this Christmas? And you don't know how or who. Then let us help! Join LifePoint as we reach out to the families of Lincoln Elementry of Findlay, Ohio this Christmas. All you need to do is donate a gift or two (priced between $6 - $20) to Gift Mart and be a blessing to a family.

What is GiftMart?
GiftMart is an outreach to the families of Lincoln Elementary School here in Findlay. We’ll be gathering NEW gifts until Sunday, December 6th that we will then package together and sell for $2 to parents/guardians of children at Lincoln. All the money raised at GiftMart will go BACK into the school, toward needs that they have (ex. shoes, coats, school supplies etc.).

Phew - ok - got a sec - so I'm gonna share some pix and quick details of what God has going ON in Findlay!!

LifePoint Gardens - There's this guy... Jon - who God brought to LP - Let me just say, he goes AFTER IT for God!

This is his 2nd year doing a Community Garden with some students from a local middle school and this year LP is joining him.

They weed, plant, water and take care of some crops and when they're ready... they are donated to people that need it and/or are sold at the Farmer's Market and the proceeds to go charity.
Thanks to Lawrence Farms for donating a half acre for this project!!
Jon was nice and bought everyone some fresh strawberries!! THANKS JON!

Invigorate Mission Team: This amazing group of college peeps from across the US stopped in Findlay last Monday to hang out and reach out. We joined them at Riverside Park to pass out FREE Dietsch's Ice Cream Cones, share a SMILE and invite them to LP. It was a GOOD TIME!! Pray for them, they're in a different city every day partnering with colleges and churches to see where God is working and JOIN HIM! YOU GUYS ROCK. For more pix of the INVIGORATE TEAM - CLICK HERE.

Carwash and a CONE! This was LP's 2nd year doing this event - just a way to LOVE on our community. This year we extended it to TWO LOCATIONS! People could come and get a FREE car wash (NO DONATIONS ACCEPTED) and on top of that each car got a coupon for a FREE one-dip cone to Dietsch's (world's best ice cream and CHOCOLATE!). I'll be honest, we didn't have as many cars as last year, but it was still a raging success - and we got show our community that we care - and don't want anything in return...

Concert in the PARK! We were invited by some sweet PEEPS to pass out ice cream at a Christian Concert that was held at Riverside Park on Saturday afternoon. Of course, we took them up on it!! We got rained on, but people enjoyed some (MORE) Dietsch's Ice Cream... and hopefully felt some Jesus LOVE!

We will be collecting new toys all year and in December, we will have a sale for the community that will enable low-income families to purchase new toys for their children for Christmas for $1-$2. Then, all the money raised will go towards buying new shoes for every child at Washington Intermediate School. Start shopping now – when you see good deals on toys!!

Today ended the INKED series at LP! Inked - Going BEYOND the surface.

Wanted to share some pix from today's BIKER RALLY at LifePoint. Several bikers showed up along with LP peeps - for a fabulous morning including a testimony from "Tatoo", awesome service with someone giving their LIFE TO CHRIST, followed by the BIKE BLESSING and then a Hogroast. What a FABULOUS DAY!

"Inked" Starting this Sunday

Starting this Sunday you don't want to miss our new sermon series; Inked "Going Beyond The Surface". We are going to go deep into pressure points of our life one week at a time. You don't want to miss this series as it will change your life. Also during the next few weeks we will be showing and talking about tattoo testimonies, everyone has a story. On May 17th we will end this series with a Hogroast and Biker Rally. We are teaming with Heaven's Saints to make this an outstanding event. Invasion of The Peeps

Wow what a weekend. The Peep Drop was amazing. I still can't get them out of my head, I had a dream the other night "Invasion of the Peeps". They just kept falling from the sky one after another. LOL We had around 2000 people attend the event, with 5 kids giving their life to Jesus. It was a really cold morning, but the key was, there was no rain! Received a lot of great compliments, with the biggest question being are we going to do this again next year. My answer to that is yes! Next year will be bigger and better, so mark your calendars for April 3rd 2010. Check out the video of the Peep Drop!

Easter Sunday was great! We had an all time high in attendance, with 3 people giving their life to Christ. That would be 8 for the weekend! God is Good! The worship set was awesome, the energy in the building was electrifying, and the people were excited to be there. We had someone tell us, "wow that was different, I loved it"! I mean how many churches can you go to and see the drummer light his cymbals on fire, not once but twice. Fog machines spitting out fog, and light moving to the beat of the music. While we worship the risen King! He is alive! It was a great ending to a great weekend.
I want to say thanks to all the people that volunteered over the weekend, you're the best ever and second to none. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to do it all over again:0)

Peep Mania Catch the Fever

Well it's the Friday before the big event! LifePoint's Peep Drop '09. Everything is coming together nicely, even the weather. Looking at weather.com just a few minutes ago it showed sunny skies with a high of 51. I'm pretty excited about that:0)
Tomorrows event is going to be amazing! We are dropping peeps from a helicopter, giving candy, face painting, games, inflatables, food, coffee (for you adults who think it's early), a guy walking on stilts, free massages, cotton candy, and giving away over $2500 in prizes! This is an event you don't want to miss, and you don't have any excuses to miss, because it's all free.
I want to give a shout out to the Cube and the City of Findlay for all their help, and to all the businesses that donated to the event so it can be a special day for the community of Hancock County and beyond. You all are awesome! Well enjoy the rest of your day and we will see you tomorrow with bells and whistles on!!!

Tic Toc Tic Toc - Time is Flying By

It has been so long since my last blog, that it feels like I need to reintroduce myself to the world. To say that life has been super busy would be an understatement. It feels like just yesterday we were having our Christmas Service at LP. Now we are just days away from Easter and the Peep Drop!
Last Sunday we celebrated our six month anniversary, and God brought us a great gift of 104 people and two people who gave their life to Christ. Go God!!! If I tell you these last six months have been a honeymoon I would be lying to you. As we have had some great days, we have also had some challenging days. God has pushed us, stretched us, corrected us, re focused us, and dropped us to our knees. And I''ll say this, even though it hasn't been easy I wouldn't want to change it for anything. We are stronger, and more confident (in Him). We have more Faith, compassion, grace, mercy, and sensitivity. And the cool thing is God isn't done molding us into what He wants us to become. He is the Potter and we are the clay!
Sometimes when I take a minute to stop and try and gather my thoughts I just can't believe everything that God has let us do in just these six months.
In six months we have:
October 5th Launched with 120 people in attendance:)
Fed five families for Thanksgiving:)
Gave gifts and fed six families for Christmas:)
Had a baby shower for Womens Resource Center:)
Had a Weight Loss Challenge, the church lost 157lbs:)
We gave $157.00 to Mission Possible:)
We have been a part of a homeless woman's life as she has been transformed by God (Aidey):)
Aidey is now at Teen Challenge ( and I can't wait to she gets home, as I know God is going to use her:)
God has let us minister to many hurting people:)
We were in The Courier talking about the Peep Drop:)
We were in The Courier again (letter to the editor) about the Peep Drop LOL :)
We have seen almost 40 people give their life to Christ:)
We had 104 people on April 5th:)
We have the best volunteers ever:)
We have the best worship band ever:)

LP 30 Day Weight Loss Challenge

So Sunday I presented a "30 Day Weight Loss Challenge" to everyone at LP. Over the last few weeks we have been talking about gluttony and how the church always seems to look past the area of gluttony, but when it come to alcohol and other sins they hit them head on. The Bible places gluttony right with drunkenness. 80% of America is overweight, that is a huge number, how can we glorify God with our bodies if we can't control what we eat?
So with the #1 New Years resolution being to lose weight we decided to present this challenge. With God's help, strength, love, grace, and mercy, I know we can have victory in this area of our lives.
When you give challenges you never know how people will respond, you pray for positive responses, but you never know. Yesterday at LifePoint we had just under a 100% of the people take the challenge. That means they weighed in and are ready to fight this battle. And they're not fighting it alone, they have God and all of us at LP cheering them on!! And here is another cool thing, for every pound we lose we are going to donate $1 to Mission Possible and the kids in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Seeing what I seen yesterday I think that check is going to be really big:o)
For all of you who took the challenge I'm praying for you daily, you can do it!!!!

God and Your Bod 3

Man if you weren't at LP this week you really missed something special. We had one of our top five Sundays! The band was on fire, they had everyone into the worship it was sweet. It's always exciting when you have to bring more chairs out for people. Dave Sprouse from Flag City Fitness spoke about practical ways to get healthy. He did an excellent job of communicating that anyone can do it, and I know people left LP knowing that they could also. He also gave everyone a little incentive to get off on the right foot. If you want to know what the incentive is come to LP this week to find out:0) I gave a 30 day weight loss challenge to everyone there, so as a church we can get in shape and be ready for anything that God has for us. If we can be in shape physically, that will help us mentally and spiritually. It's going to be awesome and I can't wait to see all the lives that Jesus transforms through this!!

How being physically, mentally, and spiritually fit all work together. And he will encourage us as we take the LifePoint 30 day weight loss challenge. God and Your Bod

Started a new series this week "God and Your Bod".
It was a difficult message for me, as I shared with everyone how I struggle with food. I tried to be as transparent as I could. The bottom line is I love to eat and I love good food. But those are not the only reasons why I eat. Sometimes I eat when I get angry, or I'm really stressed. I eat because I think this is going to make me feel better. So what ends up happening is that food becomes like an addiction. It's like an alcoholic. Most alcoholics like to drink, they like the way it makes them feel, they think it helps them deal with their problem that they are dealing with. When the only thing it does is puts the problem on the back burner for a little bit.
Yesterday I talked about how the church and a lot of Pastors are very quick to call out the sin of an alcoholic, but don't ever talk about the sin of gluttony. It's probably because most Pastors (not all) are gluttons. It's better to be stuffing your face at the Golden Coral than bellying up to a bar. Whatever! The Bible put Alcoholics and Gluttons in the same category. Proverbs 23:20-21 Don't associate with those who drink too much wine, or with those who gorge themselves on meat. for the drunkard and the glutton will become poor, and grogginess will clothe them in rags.
Romans 12:1 say to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. 1 Corinthians says that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. God want us to glorify Him with our bodies. It matters to Him what goes into it, He wants us to have healthy bodies so we can be ready to do the things that He is going to ask us to do. Being unhealthy hurts us physically, mentally, and spiritually. When we get our physical bodies where they need to be, then mentally we will be stronger, and then we will be ready to receive the Word as God gives it to us.
so I challenge you to get healthy in 2009. I gave LifePoint a 30 day weight loss challenge that will start January 12th. We are going to work together to concur the sin of gluttony. And for every pound we lose as a church we are going to donate $1 a pound to Mission Possible for the children in the DR and Haiti.
And with God's help we can have victory!!

Closing Out 2008

I know it's January 5th and I should of done this a week ago. But i just don't feel right moving on without closing out 2008! So here I go.
2008 was a crazy , but awesome year. It was probably the most challenging year I have had. As I say that I still wouldn't trade it in for anything. There are definitely things that need to be retooled for 2009. Here is a little recap of 2008:
Starting planning the launch of LifePoint.
Took a team to Ocala, Florida for a church planting conference.
Started having church in my home.
Cut grass in the community for random people, just knocked on the door and asked.
Held 3 preview services.
Held three comeback events.
Held a free car wash and a cone.
Raked leaves in the community. It was freezing:)
Started supporting a child through Mission Possible, praying for Luis Eduardo Gomez Batista.
Painted, built, repaired, and assembled our worship center, cafe, KidsLife, and nursery.
Took a basketball team on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic.
Launched on October 5th
Fed 5 families for Thanksgiving.
Supplied gifts and food for 6 families for Christmas.
Had a baby shower for mothers from the Womens Resource Center.
Baptized two men.
Watched God transform 15 people by the power of His word.
I'm telling you 2008 was truly amazing to watch how God worked through the lives of people. And I'm really excited for what is going to take place in 2009.

Baggage

As we close out 2008 we are starting to gear up for 2009 and what it has in store for us. And if you are like most people you are getting ready to make a New Year's Resolution. But I believe before we can make a resolution for 2009 we need to get rid of some of the baggage we have accumulated over 2008 and the past.
Let me break down the word resolution for you.
Resolution - A thing determined upon; decision as to future action.
Resolute - fixed and firm in purpose; determined
Resolve - to break up into separate parts; analyze to change. to reach a decision, determined to solve ( a problem or situation) Firm determination.
Determined, purpose, take a firm stand, take a decisive step, be firm, iron
When making a resolution we shouldn't make it to say we made one. We should make it, and be determined to see it thru. See God wants to nothing for the best for us, and He wants to see us make decisions in our lives that will benefit us and bring glory to Him. But before we make these new decisions in our lives we need to get rid of the baggage that we have accumulated over the year or years. Some baggage that you may have could be, hate, anger, unforgiveness, worries, your marriage, money, depression, addictions (drugs, alcohol, porn, food), guilt, fears, emotional pain, tired, and bad attitude just to name a few.
You can't move forward until you put the past behind you. Hebrews 12:1 talks about putting aside the weights and sins that ensnare us. Ask for God's help,put the baggage behind you then move forward. See this baggage is just wearing you down, and the further you go without getting rid of it the heavy it is going to get. Matthew 11:28 says come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
If you want to receive the fullness of what God has to offer you for 2009, then give Him your baggage ask Him for help and rest, then move on into 2009 with God leading the way. He wants to do something amazing in your life,and all you have to do is let Him have control.
Philippians 3:13 - Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. but one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead.
Get rid of your baggage and make a firm determination that is like iron to see your resolution not just through the year, but for your lifetime!!!

The other day I watched as Brian "Head" Welch gave his story. Brian was one of the founders of the heavy rock band Korn. And he talks about the transformation that took place in his life. It was powerful!! So enough said, now go and check it out for yourself at iamsecond.com.

Send me...

Edward Frank Harris Jr was, by most accounts, a "joyful" guy with a "loving spirit" about him.

He served at Pendergrass Baptist Church in Cleveland, Georgia; he was one of those pioneers and laborers euphemistically known as youth pastors. He also served as a chaplain at Compassionate Hospice in Gainesville. His favorite verse was said to be Isaiah 6:8.

This past Sunday, after service, Frank Harris called home. Apparently, he had found two people that needed help and he decided to give them a ride. You see, Frank Harris didn't take his church hat off; he didn't rationalize excuses to drive away. He saw an opportunity to serve, and he took it. It is a little unclear as to whether he knew the couple; it is assumed they were strangers.

Later that day, his lifeless body was found in an empty field, the victim of murder, most likely at the hands of the very people he had helped. He left behind a wife and three kids.

While it is easy to think of the what-ifs, the basic point is that here was a man who never quit serving. He didn't measure his faith by work shifts. He lived it 25/8/366.

Here is proof that you don't have to search too hard for heroes. I never knew Frank Harris personally, and I'll never meet him. I mourn that fact.

Splitting Wood

Have you ever split wood? I have a few times in my life. We used to live in an old farm house and we would burn wood to heat. I remember when I first started, I was really pumped about splitting wood. You know, how manly it would be to grab the axe and go to town. Well after about two or three times, that was enough for me. I had a friend tell me one time "work smarter not harder". So, that is what I did, I drove down to the rental yard and rented a gas powered log splitter. I can't tell you how that made it so much easier. But after awhile, that also was not much fun. So then I just bought a cord of wood and called it a day.
On Thanksgiving, LifePoint had the opportunity to feed five families. Well, one of those families didn't have a stove to be able to cook the food, so a couple of families volunteered to cook it for them, then bring it over, so they could enjoy. Thanks Kim and Heather you're awesome! While at the home we found out that the family was heating their home with a wood burning stove. The only problem, they had no wood. Not that they didn't prepare, but that they had just moved in and didn't have the resources to get it. So today Nick, Brian, and I went to a friends house (Shawn) and split wood. And Shawn also gave us a truck load to give to the family. Thanks Shawn! After making two full truck load trips to their house, I looked at Brian and said "I could do this all day"!
Isn't it funny that when you do something with the right motive,the right heart, it all of a sudden is more fun to do? When I left their house I was stoked! I was thinking in my head, who else can we serve? Who else can we show the love of Jesus to? I was ready for another round, and it didn't matter to me what it was, they only thing that mattered to me was the people who we would be doing it for. Matthew 20:28 says, Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. That is what I want my life to portray, the life of Jesus, a servant!
As I close out this blog the only thing I can see is the smiles that were plastered on the faces of each family member, knowing that tonight, they would have heat! Thank you Jesus for opening our eyes to see the needs of people.

Sunday Night Release

Today at LifePoint was great!
We finished up our series on Lost with Lost and Found!
We battled sub zero temperatures!
The sound system is stinkin sweet!
Panera bagels in the morning always hits the spot!
Kim your doing a great job with the cafe!
Had a spot light on me today, a little weird at first, but worked through it!
Had a small crowd today, not our smallest, and definitely not our biggest!
Had the opportunity today to see a miracle!
Bi'Ri sweet opening on Enough by Jeremy Camp loved it!
Band was smooth was cool seeing you all get into what you were playing!
God is a God of miracles and He performed another one right before my eyes!
Love seeing the kids come out of KidsLife all charged with big smiles on their faces!
I think my feet turned numb about half way through the service!
Really I think they did!
Shan is on his way to Chicago, pray for no deers to be in the way!
Decorated the Christmas tree today, that was fun!
Went to Walmart three times today in a matter of two hours, the lights we bought, only half of them worked per strand!
God was teaching me patience!
Watched Elf tonight with the family, it's a Christmas classic, I laughed really hard!
Ate pumpkin pie!
The worship leaders did a great job!
You are probably asking what the miracle was that happened today!
I hope it snows soon!
Drum roll please..................!

I love the movie Finding Nemo. I would have to say it's one of my favorites. Today at LifePoint we finished up our Lost Series with Lost and Found. So anyways I was always wondering what happened to Nemo. So I went looking. And this is what I found. Have a great day.

Are you thankful? Do you take time to give thanks? Maybe you are but haven't taken the time to do so, well take a minute today and tell God what your thankful for. And don't forget we praise Him when we win and we praise Him when we lose. As you sit down to scarf down your thanksgiving feast think about what your thankful for. God has given us so much and sometimes we get busy and forget to tell Him how much we are thankful. And maybe go one step further and tell someone close to you or maybe far from you why you are thankful for them.

Give A Shout Out!!!!

Wow what a week! God is doing tremendous things at LifePoint and around LifePoint. He is all about what we are doing, and His hands are all over it. Philippians 4:19 says " And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus". There are many times that we don't believe this promise that God gives us. Either we don't have enough patience to wait or we try and do it ourselves to fill our needs. I was reminded this week that God fulfills His promises. Let me just sum up this week for you. #1 God gave us a $10,000 sound and lighting system! #2 God gave us $3,000 to get some odds and ends for sound! #3 God gave us $2,000 for Bibles and Case for Christ books! #4 God gave $10,000 to a ministry really close to us! #5 Many people made decisions Sunday, dealing with being ashamed! #6 LifePoint is feeding five families for Thanksgiving, great job everyone!
Again, wow what a week! Psalm 66 1-3 says " Shout joyfully to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, " How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before You, because of Your great strength.
Will you join me in giving a shout out to God for His greatness, His faithfulness, and anything else you can think of? He truly is amazing!!!

I'm really excited about this Christmas season for a number of reasons. But the #1 reason why I'm so excited is because LifePoint gets to serve and give in the life of five families. We have been given five names of families who are just going through a tough time. And are having difficulty finding any joy in the upcoming days. So we are going to start with Thanksgiving and provide to these families a full thanksgiving dinner that we will drop off at their homes on Sunday afternoon. The cool thing about this is that we aren't going to just drop food off and tell them to have a great day. We, as a church have a desire to build relationships with these families that we pray will be long lasting. We want to know how we can pray for them, and how we can help them. The bible talks about having compassion for people, the definition for compassion is seeing a need and having the desire to alleviate it. That is what we want to do, see the way Jesus sees, so that we can have compassion for the people around us and be able to help alleviate those needs. See it's all about being the church not just doing church. Showing people the love of Jesus yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I just can't wait to see what God is going to do through this.
And to all of you at LifePoint, thanks for stepping up and providing food you all are awesome!!!
P.S. I can't wait to see what your going to do for Christmas:0)

Speechless Again!

Well once again I found myself speechless. God once again showed me how little faith that I have. Let me give you some background. For quite sometime now we have been searching and praying for a sound system for LifePoint. In the mean time we have been using a borrowed system, that has gotten us by, but every week it seems to be slowly going out. Last Sunday as I was standing in the front row I could barely hear the singers. I went back to check with the sound guy and he pointed to the sound board indicating that everything was turned up all the way. To say the least I was a little frustrated. So this week I really started searching high and low for a system that would fit our needs. On Monday I received a call from a guy in our church who plays in our band and he said he heard about a guy that has a sound system and he wants to sell it. So I'm like cool I'll call him and go look at it. So on Wednesday night I drove out to see what this guy had to offer. He not only had a sound system, but he also had a lighting system that he wanted to sell. And I'm talking a complete set, everything that we need all sitting at this guys house. So I asked, "How much?" He said he would sell everything for $2,500! So at this point, without showing my excitement, shouted we'll take it! So now your thinking we bought the system and lived happily ever after, well if you are then your wrong. He started to second guess himself in wanting to sell it. So as I left I just told him to talk it over with his wife and pray about what he wants to do. And I will call him tomorrow.
So I my way home that night I prayed that God would work in this mans heart and that he would want to sell the system to LifePoint. Oh and also that somehow God would give us the $2,500 needed to buy it. Oh yeh, we didn't have the money:o) Called some people asked them to pray about the situation, Kendra and I prayed then went to bed.
On Thursday I started calling around to see if there was some money laying around somewhere that someone would like to give LP just in case this guy wanted to sell the system. Around 4:00pm on Thursday I called and left a message, at 5:00pm he called back. He said" Kevin after much prayer and talking with my wife we have decided to give you the sound and lighting system". I'm like great! (now thinking where am I going to get the money to pay this guy tonight?) Then he said again" yeh we are going to just give you the system. I'm like what did you just say? He said you can have the system we are giving it to you no cost. FREE!!! At that point it finally sunk in and I started to cry, then I said to him, if you were in front of me right now I would kiss you! I think he got a little scared. LOL I was in the car with Shan and I was literally speechless. Everything we picked up tonight is worth at least $10,000. Man I still can't believe it.
So once again God showed me He is a BIG God, and there is nothing that He can not do! The question is, when am I going to realize it!
All of this just shows me that God has Big things planned for LifePoint and He is committed to transforming this community that He has put us in!
Do me a favor today, thank God for His goodness!

Climbing Mount Everest (LifePoint)

The first attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest began in the early 1920’s with the opening of the Tibetan route. Over the next thirty or so years, eight attempts were made on the Northeast Ridge and three on the Southeast Ridge. The combination of thin air, extreme temperatures and high altitude brought failure to each successive attempt.On May 29th, 1953 that man - Edmund Percival Hillary - and his companion, Tensing Norgay, achieved the seeming impossible – they climbed Mount Everest. The 34 year old kiwi and the 38 year old Nepalese Sherpa guide leader conquered the world’s tallest mountain after a slow climb at less than three steps per minute up the final three hundred yards from their last Camp. This final climb to the top had defeated seven other expeditions.

Every time I read this story I get really excited, two men, Hillary and Tensing achieved what many people before them had attempted and failed. And I'm sure there were many people who were on the sidelines, were telling these two men that they couldn't do do it either, but they had a vision to climb Mount Everest, and there was nothing that was going to get in their way. Not people telling them they couldn't, not the weather, not their physical bodies, and not the hard work that it would take. Their focus was on nothing but the vision of reaching the top of Mount Everest. And with that vision their goal was hit!

We are in the tenth month of our vision at LifePoint, with many months and years to come. There has been some good times, there has been some tough times, but through it all God has shown Himself mighty! At our official launch on October 5th we had 121 people in attendance. That was awesome and very encouraging. We knew though that the next week would really tell us what we were going to have to start with. And that next week following the launch we had 65 people in attendance. Now we had a starting point. Every week since then we have increased in attendance, with this last week having 97 in attendance. Man God is good. He is faithfully bringing the people who He wants to be at LifePoint. If you count the 3 preview services along with the services since our launch we have had nine services. What can God do in a new church? What can God do when people focus on the vision? What can God do through LifePoint? Well let me tell you what He has done. Twelve people giving their lives to Christ, every week numerous people making decisions of re-dedication, people crying out for help, people asking God to give them victory in areas of their lives like, money, family, loneliness, and fears. God has touched the hearts of people to give food to families in need, to cut grass, clean gutters, trim trees, and rake leaves. God is bringing a group of people together who say it doesn't matter what you look like, what you wear, how many tattoos, how many piercings you have, how much money you have, where you came from, and how you got here. God loves you and so do we. He is bringing people together from all over the community that want to make a difference, to put unity back into community, to love people know matter what, and to make it hard to get to hell from Findlay, Ohio. That is what God has done. And the great thing about it is He is just starting.

I love this quote by Hillary: "He wrote of the pair's final steps to the top of the world: "Another few weary steps and there was nothing above us but the sky. There was no false cornice, no final pinnacle. We were standing together on the summit. There was enough space for about six people. We had conquered Everest."

At LifePoint we are well on our way to the Summit, with our focus on the vision and God as our guide we will make it. And when we reach the summit there won't just be two people standing there, but there will be thousands.

The ant has it!

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you slacker! Observe its ways and become wise. Without leader, administrator, or ruler, it prepares it's provisions in summer; it gathers its food during harvest.

Do you want to make a difference in your life or in the life of someone around you? Then pay attention to the metaphor of the ant. It amazes me that one of God's smallest creatures can become one of His greatest teachers. The lessons the ant teaches us can be summarized this way:
A - Attitude of Initiative
Ants don't need a commander to tell them to get started.
N - Nature of Integrity
Ants work faithfully and need no outside accountability to keep them doing right.
T - Thirst for Industry
Ants work hard and will replace their anthill when it gets ruined.
S - Source of Light
Ants store provisions in summer.

God has asked us to be like the ant. To be hard workers for the Kingdom of God without being told to. To glorify Him with our lives by not being slackers in this world, but by being people committed to an Attitude of Initiative, a Nature of Integrity, a Thirst for Industry, and a Source of Light. If we consider and learn from the ways of the ant, we can grow wise. Would you be willing to humble yourself and learn from the ant?

LifePoint Launches

It’s official! LifePoint Community Church has launched! And what a launch it was! The service opened with a video of PK (Pastor Kevin) at the Neil Armstrong Museum talking about VISION, vision that President Kennedy had to send US Astronauts to the moon and that Neil Armstrong had to walk on the moon! That went into the song “Final Countdown” by Europe, but with lyrics written by Shan (who knew he had that great talent??). As the prelude to “Final Countdown” was playing, two LP astronauts moon-walked to the moon (the stage, decorated as a moon) and stuck a Christian Flag and a LifePoint flag into the moon. That led into the song, with Europe look-alikes – the LP Praise Band!! LOL! The hair was too much! Then, the worship set started, as praises were lifted to the “God of Wonders” because “Today is the Day, He Has Made!!” PK shared the vision of LP and the vision that God has for each person on earth, not wanting any to perish, but at all would have eternal life. He concluded that God launched His Son into the world to be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. The service concluded with the song “The Motions” by Matthew West.

The launch team enjoyed lunch and fellowship together after the service! Not it’s time to gear up for next week!! Let’s roll!

Off and Flying

Well we have taken off and are headed to the Dominican Republic with 11 other people. We have a men's basketball team that will play against the Dominicans at least 7 times. At half time of the game we will have the opportunity to share Jesus with them. Please pray that God will use us to make a big impact in this great country. We left this afternoon at 12:05pm, flew to Dallas, flew to Puerto Rico. And that is where we are now, delayed in Puerto Rico until 12:35am. We will now be arriving in the DR at about 1:30am. Then we will try and get a little sleep (and yes I mean a little) we need to be up by 4:45am to start heading to Barahona which is a 4 1/2 hour drive. Please pray for strength, energy, and clarity of mind. Everyone is totally excited, and anxious to get there. I'm nervous and anxious at the same time. It's been two plus years since Kendra and I have been there. Well I will update more later, I need to find out where everyone went (I think BW3's). Adios!!

Sunday Release

Well well well, where do I start? Man what a week. It was very busy, but great. God is so awesome, He always meets me where I'm at and this past week I really needed to hear some things. So here is a quick recap of my week:

Put the construction hat on this week to help a friend's mother fix her floor (still working on it).
Was invited to The Leadership Summit for Thursday and Friday.
Gary Haugen, Craig Groeschel, and Bill Hybels were great. Their insight on leadership and the church was much needed.
Thanks to Steve Long for the invite, you're the best!
Worked a french fry trailer for a friend, Go Franks Fries.
On Saturday we cooked about 2000 lbs of fries! Wow!
Had our second preview service, it was awesome, God was really working, we had seven people link into LifePoint to be a part of what is taking place.
Man does that make me excited!!
Oh yeah and to top it off we had three people who gave their life to Christ! :o)
God has a sense of humor. Last preview it was like a hundred degrees, we prayed for cooler weather, and He provided a nice and cool seventy four degrees. I'm not a weather man, but I think it was around there :).
Thanks to everyone who set up and tore down, you guys are great!
Special thanks to Shan for going the extra mile to get us up and running for Sunday, we appreciate all your efforts.
Jessica way to get The Point Cafe up and running. The coffee was much needed.
Had lunch at Panera, but didn't have coffee (that had to be a first).
Looking forward to our mission trip to the Dominican Republic. (we leave Saturday August 16th please pray)

This is a great blog written by Perry Noble. The title says Four Types Of Staff Members but I believe this could apply to anyone who serves. In ministry I have ran into all four of these people. At LifePoint it would be great to have all #1's at least in attitude! Give me some feed back to let me know what you think.

Four Types Of Staff Members

One of the things I will be trying to spend some time on in our upcoming meetings with our coaching network is the issue of staffing. (WOW…it begins a week from tomorrow!) In fact, a lot of the leadership questions I get have to do with staffing…so, let me lay out five type’s of staff members, some good, some not so good…

#1 - The “Love To Do” Staff Member

This is the person you want around you! They have a positive attitude and are so pleasant to be around. This is the person who pulls up in the parking lot and actually thanks God before getting out of their car for the privilege of working there instead of thinking the church is blessed because they work there.

AND…they love their job! In fact, if they weren’t doing what they did on staff they would do it as a volunteer! They love the church and it’s vision and are willing to do everything they can!

#2 - The “Can Do” Staff Member

The one thing that has to be addressed on a staff is competency level. Because, while you may have someone who loves what they do…they just might not be able to do it. (And…in my opinion, the church should hold a higher standard here than the business community; after all, there is a lot more at stake.)

Can the person doing the job do the job? OR…has their skill set and ability been maxed out? It’s a tough call…but one that must be made in order to protect the church and the staff member.

AND…let me say that the first option should always be to move the staff member to another job…because if they are a “Love To Do” staff member then they will thrive!

#3 - The “Should Do” Staff Member

This is the person on staff that gets to the office 3 minutes late and leaves 5 minutes early. They are gone a really long time for lunch…but no one ever really knows why. They spend a lot of time on their facebook pages (that are completely not ministry related) and often talk to their friends and waste time.

Sure, they get their job done–barely…but their hearts are not into it. They do what they “should do,” nothing more, nothing less!

AND they have to go! You can’t afford this kind of dead weight in your church! God’s kingdom is WAY too important to keep these kind of people around. They are not doing what they are doing because of passion but rather a paycheck. NOT GOOD!

#4 - The “Won’t Do” Staff Member

This is the staff member, when asked to do something, responds with, “that’s not my job.”

I know this is strong…but it has been made clear here at NewSpring Church from day one that EVERYTHING is our job…and if a staff member ever uses that they are asked to clean out their office!

If you ever have a staff member that isn’t willing to do whatever it takes for the good of the church–they aren’t bought into the vision. If a staff member ever becomes more departmental (this is MY AREA) than organizational (this is MY CHURCH) then they are dangerously close to establishing ministry silo’s that need to be destroyed!

One of the things I LOVE about our staff at NewSpring Church is…nothing is beneath anyone. Everyone is willing to do what it takes to get the job done…whether that means helping set out chairs, picking up trash in the parking lot on the way in…or even straightening up the restroom when noticing it is dirty!

When a staff is willing to do whatever…that attitude spreads to the volunteers…which will IMPACT a church in a huge way!

Taking it easy.

Well after a big weekend, I've just been cleaning some things up and getting ready for Sunday's evaluation. Got to spend some quality time with my kids today, no running around, just a little wrestling on the floor, bike ride (I was showing them how to do a wheelie), and then Popsicles. Tomorrow we have a couple ideas for the day, we will see which one works out best (possibly Cedar Point).
Over the years I've noticed how easy it is to lose track of time, get buried in your work and forget about your family. I used to be a workaholic and would neglect my family often. Fortunately I have learned over the years to make sure to take the time, I mean quality time with my family. My kids love it and look forward to it.
Friday we get to attend another Toledo Mudhen's baseball game. Kendra's mom took us a few weeks ago and we all had a great time. I want to catch a foul ball for my kids, last time we were there thats all they talked about. The quality time I spend with my family, has always proven strengthen our relationships with each other.
So if you have been busy doing what you do, and have lost track of time, stop what your doing and put a date on the calender that you can spend with your family. They will enjoy it and so will you.

Sunday Night Release

LifePoint's 1st Preview Service happened today, I was extremely happy how things went. Had a couple kinks, but you will have that in the beginning. Here are a few highlights from the day.

Morning came really fast!
The adrenaline was pumping!
Everyone was on time or early (excitement)!
We had Panera coffee and bagels!
Man was it hot!
We had preservice music!
The band sounded great!
We blew a fuse, but worked through the problem!
It was a scorcher!
Had someone tell me they thought the service was cool!
Had someone tell me they thought the service was long and to load!:o)
Had someone tell me they love it.
Had someone tell me this is what they have been looking for!
Did I mention it was really hot!
Had someone accept Christ!
Everyone did an excellent job today, pat yourself on the back!
God is awesome!
The preaching was ok hopefully better next time!
Kentucky Fried Chicken buckets for the offering, priceless!
Hot, Hot, Hot!

I can't believe it!

I can't believe it's finally here. LifePoint's 1st Preview Service, tomorrow morning 10 o'clock. So many emotions running through my head, not sure how much sleep i will get tonight, but whatever I get I'm sure it will be sufficient. A special thanks to our Launch Team, we love you all!
Everyone has worked so hard to get to this first milestone, I know going into tomorrow most of us will be running on pure adrenaline. Thats ok we will rest later.
Today was a very busy day, about eleven hours of making sure all the details were taken care of. Had a couple snags along the way, but they are now taken care of and we are ready to role. From the beginning we said this was God's church and we were only laborers, nothing has changed He is in control and we are looking forward to seeing what He will do tomorrow.
Tomorrow is just another step of many of LifePoint making an impact in the community. That will be long lasting and rock solid. It's not about us, it's about Jesus and the great people of Hancock County.

Really Quick

Well, another busy day almost gone. It's about 6:25pm and getting ready to meet with the best Launch team there is. We are just a few days away to our 1st preview service. Tonight we will go over some of those little details that are still out there. For the most part things are ready to go, everyone has done a great job so that we are not rushing around on Sunday. I have a few things running through my mind, I will try and blog them later tonight or in the morning.

Wow, the week is going by really fast. Were gearing up for our 1st preview this Sunday at 10:00a.m. We are making sure we are dotting our I's and crossing our T's. And boy is there a lot of them. There are so many little details, that need to be done. I don't really know why we call them little, to me any detail is big. If you forget one detail, doesn't matter big or small, someone will notice, probably not everyone, but someone. And at LifePoint we are striving for excellence, so every detail counts no matter how big or how small.
The sound system showed up today :)
More fliers were passed out :)
The worship team practiced :)
Everyone is doing a great job :)
God has been amazing :)
Had a great lunch with Steve Long and Ryan Pickerel at the Red Pig :)
Looking forward to a road trip this afternoon to Toledo :)

Wow what a day today, I don't even know where to start. So I will start in the beginning.

Up to 3:30am printing fliers and looking for another video for my message.
Still to excited couldn't sleep.
8:30am walked into the church I was overcome with emotions.
Got my composure, got ready for our 1st mock service.
10:00am started in the parking lot talking about the flow, then prayed!
Prayed thru the hallways!
Prayed in the cafe!
Walked thru service, with no sound. God is in control :)
The music was great! Great job Shan, Josh, Eric, Erica, Brian, Jen, and Nick.
Coffee was great. Thanks to Jerry.
During the run thru got chills, can't wait to see how God is going to use LifePoint.
Had lunch at Hunan, Yum Yum
My wife is awesome!!
Many fliers were passed out today.
Thanks to everyone who served today, job well done.
Finished night off with a camp fire and a movie, oh yeh made Jiffy Pop on the fire.

More Than a Church

At LifePoint we want to be more than just another church building. We have plenty of those around, and definitely don't need anymore. We are striving to be an outward church that is looking to make an impact in the community, to role up our sleeves and dig in to make long lasting partnerships with the people.To leave the confines of our building and show people the love of Jesus by extending a helping hand, serving, and giving back to a community that has given so much. One of our goals is to put "unity" back into community. To make a difference in the lives of this generation and the generations to come. It won't be easy, but it can be done!

Wow, time flies when your having fun!! I haven't blogged since June 24th,and it feels like it. Life has been fast and furious, we are only nine days away from our first preview service, with still a lot to be done. We are having the most fun that we have had in ministry. Everyday there is a new adventure, or a new snag, you never know what your going get from day to day. Things are falling into place, not in my timing but in God's timing, and that's fine by me (well sometimes:). The excitement is rising as we will be in our building this Sunday to go through a run through for next week. I just can't believe it's almost here!
Here's a shout out to our Launch Team, you guys and ladies are awesome, your doing a great job, and we are so happy that your on our team. Lets stay focused, keep our eyes on the vision, and press on. God is doing big things, and there are big things to come. We love all of you and thank you for your commitment to LifePoint.

Over the last few years I have been doing more and more research on technology. Years prior I really didn't have any interest in little gadgets, communication things, surfing the web, etc. Now I really get into it. I find myself looking at ways to make my days more efficient, or ways to better communicate with people.
The other day I found a new way to communicate. It's called Jott, (www.jott.com). There are a couple of reasons why I like this new item. First of all, if I'm driving down the road or in a place where I don't have anything to write on, I can call Jott, and they will take my information and then send me an email with the same info that I told them. So I will never forget a great idea! The other reason is if i need to email someone while driving or again in a situation with no email, I can call Jott, and they will take the info then send the email to the person that I chose from my contacts.
This is really cool. You have to check it out! And start Jottin.

Last Sunday I talked more about "Defining Moments" Being Plateaued. Two ways to get off the plateau was to #1 Dream Again #2 Learn Again. One way to learn is to read. To read a book that stimulates your mind. So I'm asking everyone out there, what are you reading? Right now I'm reading Fusion by Nelson Searcy - Turning first time guests into Fully- Engaged members of your church.

I was reading a blog from Ed Stetzer (EdStetzer.com (1o)
this morning, and he was recapping the Southern Baptist Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. During the convention Pastor Johnny Hunt from First Baptist Woodstock was named President. Congratulations Pastor Johnny! I know he will do a great job. Back to the blog; well read this and then I will comment:

Desire for More Methodological Diversity

"So many I spoke with desire to reach out to churches of different ministry paradigms. That is good news. Now, my only hope is that it is not too late.

Actually, that is not right. It is too late for many. We have preached out a whole generation of contemporary church pastors and they won't return. However, there is hope to connect with some who are still open and willing. My time with Troy Gramling, pastor of Flamingo Road Church (with over 7,000 in attendance each week) encouraged me that such is possible. And the scores of men planting culturally relevant churches (contemporary, urban, emerging, etc.) and many more seeking to revitalize plateaued churches give me hope for a future of biblically sound and missiologically diverse SBC congregations in North America. We will always be a convention of primarily traditional churches, and I am so thankful for them, but I am encouraged that there may be room at the table for other biblically faithful expressions of church and ministry."

I thought this was a good section, it's sad to read and see that in years past the SBC has preached out contemporary church pastors. I do believe this was and is changing. Over the last few years we have been in some great SBC churches, some were traditional and some were contemporary. Like First Baptist Woodstock, Bethel Baptist (Alabama), Fellowship Church, and NorthPoint. Seeing these churches is what helped us to make the decision to partner with the SBC. We are launching a contemporary church that is looking to make a difference in our community by changing the methods of how church is done , but not changing the life changing message of the Bible. So, to see that things are changing, for the simple reason to see more people reached is encouraging. Our partnership with the SBC has been great and I see this partnership lasting for many years. It's time to put the past in the past and "prepare for rain"!

To Much

I have been trying to decide what to blog about today, but there is so much I don't know what to bring to the table. It's almost like a tornado effect, everything is swirling around at a fast rate of speed. I would have to say that my emotions today have been up and done. I've caught myself trying to look ahead to tomorrow, hoping it will be better or at least different.
I'm trying to stand on God's promises, to get me through the day. God tell us to trust him, but there are days when this is difficult. It's hard to trust a physical person, someone you can touch, like your wife or husband, even if they are standing right in front of you. I don't like days like these, I wish they would never come. I need to stay strong, need to stay focused, need to lean on God, need to keep my eyes on Jesus.
I believe God uses these days to test our faith and trust in Him. So all day in my head I have been repeating this verse Isaiah 40:31 - but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.

I pray that you pressed on. Trust in the LORD!!

New Sport: People Watching

If you live on the same planet as me, you may have notice that there are a lot of people. I mean everywhere you go you run into people. And they are all different. By the way they dress, eat, walk, talk, act, work, problems, lifestyle, and etc. I remember when I was younger and living at home, my momma and I would go to the mall, buy a coke, find a nice bench to sit on in the middle of the mall, and just sit there and watch people. We would do it for hours, I started to think that we were inventing a new sport, instead of bird watching, or whale watching, we were people watching. We would watch how people acted, dressed, who they were there with (boyfriend/girlfriend, family, etc.) I think my mom even listened in on some conversations. I would have to admit to you at ten and eleven years old I laughed a few times at what I saw and heard.
I was thinking, as Christians, should we be people watching? Not watching people so we can laugh at them or judge them, but to watch them so that we can help them. The Bible talks about how Jesus is our example, and when I read verses like Matthew 9:36, "When he saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd."
There are two key words in this verse, 1) saw 2)compassion.
The word compassion means to see a problem and being able to alleviate it.
I was in the grocery store the other day standing in the checkout line. I happened to be watching the lady in front of me pay for her groceries, then I noticed she was digging into her purse, then taking things out of the bag. Thanks to God I was able to see the situation this lady was in, and was able to help out by paying for the groceries. The lady and the cashier couldn't believe it.
My point in all this, is that we need to watch or look for ways to help someone out. To have compassion for them and show them the love of Christ. So I challenge you to take up the new sport of People Watching! And make a difference in your community!

Help!!

Have you ever been in your house, car or outside and it felt like everything around you was caving in? The pressure inside of you was building and building to the point of total meltdown. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere you opened your mouth and out came the word HELP as loud as it could come out. Well I've done it many times. And I'm sure I will do it many times to come. There just becomes times in our lives when it feels like things are out of control, everything is going downhill, and we can't stop it or we don't know how to stop it. We look around, to see what we can grab onto. Something that we can lean on or cushion the fall. Only not to find anything. Then to find out we've been looking in the wrong places. Psalm 121 is a great reminder where our help comes from. Instead of looking around here on earth, we need to look up to the Creator of heaven and earth. He loves us ans is waiting to help us. So go ahead and let out that big scream for help, but then look to God and let Him give you the help that you need.
Psalm 121 -
1 I raise my eyes toward the mountains.
Where will my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not allow your foot to slip;
your Protector will not slumber.

4 Indeed, the Protector of Israel

Defining Moments

Cornered

Luke 15: 11-32 tells us the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The youngest son demands that his father give him his inheritance immediately rather than waiting for the father’s passing. The father does so and that son then squanders all his wealth on wild living. Poor and starving, the young son takes a lowly job feeding pigs and is very tempted to eat the pig slop because he is so hungry. Just then he has his defining moment while being cornered by his self inflicted situation. It is like being “checked” in the chess game of life. It is a sign that you are in danger of being “checkmated” if you do not make the right life altering decision. The son realizes that even his father’s servants have more food than him. He decides that he will apologize to his father and beg for forgiveness. The father, however, sees him in the distance, runs to him, kisses and hugs him before the young son could apologize! The father then quickly orders a celebration for the son’s return. The older son, upon discovering the news and party becomes angry and jealous. He refuses to come in and so the father pleads with him to join the party.

Every single one of us reaches a defining moment in our lives where we need to make a major life altering decision. Ever been cornered? Ever had to make a decision?

Sometimes our decision is forced by the secrets we hide. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, was a noted practical joker in his day. As a gag, he sent a hand delivered anonymous telegram to each of twelve English politicians which simply read, “All has been discovered. Flee at once.” Shortly afterwards though, seven out of the twelve did just that and left the country! You could say that those seven had their defining moment and were cornered and checkmated by the truth.

A little girl asked her mom how the human race began. Her mother answered that God created Adam and Eve and then they had children and their children had children and so on and so forth. Later, the little girl asked her dad, who was an atheist, how the human race began. He told her that billions of years ago humans descended from monkeys. She was confused at the different answer so she asked her mom whether the answer was God or monkeys. The mother answered that she had explained where her side had come from and that the dad had explained where his side came from!

Sometimes we can be cornered by pranks, errors or the truth. Today we are going to talk about the Parable of the Prodigal son. Parables contain very important truths and though sometimes we can be cornered by those truths that God reveals to us, we have to remember that God never condemns us. As the Bible says, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1).

There is a big difference between condemnation and conviction.

1. CONDEMNATION DRIVES YOU AWAY.

2. CONVICTION DRAWS YOU NEARER.

Parables yield up truth gradually and gently so that believers will receive a very important message. Non believers will simply hear a nice story. God will not force His message on you. He usually will let the truth be seen by you gradually and gently and so the ball is in your court. It is up to you to make the decision.

In the story of the Prodigal Son, the father did not lose only one son. He lost both sons.

3. YOU CAN MESS YOU LIFE UP OUTSIDE THE FATHER’S HOUSE OR INSIDE.

The Prodigal Son is more than the story of one lost son. It is the story of two lost sons. But even more than that, it is mainly the story of a father’s unceasing passion for finding his lost children. The two stories or parables before that are about the shepherd that never gave up looking for his lost sheep and the search and passion for finding a lost coin. The Prodigal Son is about the grief of the father more than about the son. It is more than just a story about a wayward young son or an angry older son. It is the story of a grieving father.

The youngest son wanted his inheritance now. In a way he wanted his father to be legally dead so he could get the money. The father had money and property so the young son received the money and the older son got the farm. The younger son squandered the money sowing his wild oats. Sowing your wild oats will cost you a thousand times more than you think. It will cost you your time, family and relationships.

The young son spent all his inheritance and then found himself cornered. He was so desperate that he took a job feeding pigs and was so hungry that he considered eating the pig slop. He had his defining moment when he realized that his father’s servants had more money than he did. He felt that he was no longer worthy to be his father’s son. The two sons were cornered; one by his error and the other by truth.

God answers prayers in interesting ways – not necessarily in the way you ask. If you pray for direction God may not give you direction but He may put you in a place where you will have to find direction. If you pray for forgiveness, He may put you in a place where you need to forgive. If you pray for patience, He may put you in a place where you need patience.

In the parable of the Prodigal Son, the elder son was a workaholic and so had a lesson to learn. In the story, the father was sitting on his porch on the farm he no longer owned because he had given it to his eldest son. He sees his youngest son in the distance and immediately rushes to hug and kiss him without a word to him before the son has a chance to confess his sins. Though the boy had an eloquent confession already rehearsed, he did not get a chance to say it because his father wanted to celebrate first. His father had already long been waiting with ready forgiveness. Likewise, we might wonder about God’s forgiveness of our sins, but rest assured, God has already made the decision to forgive us.

4. THE TRUEST CONFESSION IS WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FORGIVENESS.

The important part to God is what you do after you are forgiven.

The father calls his servants and they start to celebrate because he felt that his son was dead but now alive and lost but now found. God’s message is that we should celebrate homecomings more. We need to celebrate when people are checked, cornered and make a move to come home to Christ.

The older brother was not a part of the party. He was angry, jealous and refused to come in. Though he was amidst the celebrants, he refused to join. We sometimes are like that too. We can be keeping track of everybody else instead of celebrating what God is doing in their lives. The father knew that something was desperately wrong and so he went after the son outside the house and the one inside of the house. He explained to the older son that that son could have always had it all but he was too busy keeping track of everybody else to enjoy himself. The son could not even see the joy because he was too busy watching everybody else. The father wanted to tell him to kiss his younger brother and to shut up because they had to celebrate. There was no option!

We probably do have people, though inside the church, that are missing life’s party, right now.

If we pray that we need more joy in our lives then God will put us in a situation where we need to celebrate. Let us hear that little “check” in our minds and not let it become “checkmate”.

The younger son had a happy ending to his side of the story. Did the older brother have an unhappy ending to his side? Not exactly. God did not reveal an ending. The father is left pleading with the older brother and the story just stops because the ending is up to us.

Aren’t we glad that we have a Father in God that never gives up on us? So which sons are we? We are both sons. Sometimes we waste the gifts God has given us and sometimes we are too busy keeping score on what He has given others.

But which son is worse? Whether you are lost outside or inside the Father’s house, it is equally tragic. But the second situation is more difficult to detect because inside the Father’s house you can appear to be doing all the right things for God but yet be missing out on the joy of Christ.

5. HOW DOES THE STORY END? IT’S UP TO YOU AND ME.

So God is saying that the best and truest confessions and actions come after the forgiveness. He also wants us to celebrate homecomings more. We should focus more on celebrating what the Lord is doing in other people’s lives rather than our own. Remember, we write our own life story and ending, so make it good.

God does not condemn. Condemnation drives you away. Conviction draws you nearer. You can mess up your life outside the father’s house or inside. The truest confession is what you do after the forgiveness. The story’s ending is up to you and me. We write our own life story and ending, so make it good.

2. Share about a time when you were condemned versus convicted. How did that affect you?

3. Share about a time when you were convicted versus condemned. How did that affect you?

4. Tell of a time when your life was messed up. Were you a Prodigal Son or an Older Brother? Explain.

5. In the question above, what were you convicted of and how did you reconcile that?

6. Did the father forgive the Prodigal Son just because he apologized? What does that suggest to us about forgiveness?

Dear Friends,

As you know, we’re in the midst of planting/launching a new church in Findlay. Here are some things that have been happening lately:

· Our team has been involved already in servant-evangelism. Last Saturday we spent the day doing yard work for a single mom, an elderly lady and two other homes that weren’t on the agenda (but were on God’s agenda J). Join us in praying that these will be seeds that are planted, will be watered and that these families recognize God's immense love for them that they might come to know Him and have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. June 14th we'll be doing a FREE neighborhood car wash... no donations accepted. Just want to be a blessing to the ones He's called us to serve!!

· We are meeting on Sundays as a launch team where we worship together, pray, and PK brings the word. The kids have an energetic and solid program they’re doing in the basement as well!

· We are renting space from Faith Academy of Findlay who is renting the old St. Mikes’ school. There is lots of remodeling to be done and our primary responsibility has been the gym. At this point we have finished painting the stage area and are working on the main walls… It’s fantastic to know where we’ll be holding our previews, launch service and every Sunday after that! We’ve got a lot of work to be done to be ready for July 20^th, and we appreciate your prayers for this!!

While we are only meeting officially as a launch team on Sunday mornings, we are getting new visitors every week! This was not our original plan as we are following a church launch model instead of a church plant, however, who are we to stop what God is doing? He is bringing Christians who want to help connect this community to Christ!

As a church plant, a mission church if you will, we rely strongly on sponsor donations for the 1^st year. Initially we told you we were looking for a two-year commitment, but with how quickly things are moving, we anticipate that need to be cut back to being self-supported after the 1^st year. Maybe we’ll even be able to move up when we will take a group from LP Findlay and plant yet another church. The plan is to plant churches that plant churches. It is a proven effective way to reach communities for Christ!! We are blessed to be doing His work!

Catching up!

Well it has been awhile since my last blog, so I will try and catch everyone up. Let me start off by telling you how great God is. He is orchestrating a vision that could only be done from His hands. The way that He guides and directs is amazing. He knows just when and how to put the pieces of the puzzle together. I just need to learn and try to keep my hands out of it, which is very hard to do.
Over the past few weeks things have been fast and furious. Kendra was out of town for work (RTI), I had the privilege of teaching my kids while she was gone. Then, I was out of town for a Coaching Network, making phone calls and meeting with people about the vision of LifePoint. One thing that is really cool is knowing that you have a team that is with you. While I have been doing my things, the team has been working on their ministries and getting them ready for our first preview service. Great job team! We have Sunday service at my house, where we are able to LOVE, LINK, LEARN, and LIVE. It has been great seeing visitors come and feel welcome.

After much prayer, we have decided to lease space from Faith Academy of Findlay. We are very excited and just know this will be a great partnership with Faith. We have been given the ok to go in and start cleaning, painting, and getting things ready for our first preview service on July 20th. Which is only two months and seven days away!
Please keep praying for LifePoint Findlay, as we still have many needs before July 20th. Like, people, we need more people to fill important ministry roles, chairs, sound equipment, and money just to name a few.

People Matter To God

One day, an antique collector was walking through the city when he noticed a mangy cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store and he did a double take. His expertise told him that the saucer was extremely old and very valuable, so he walked casually into the store and offered to buy the cat for two dollars. The store owner replied, "I'm sorry, but the cat isn't for sale". The collector said, "Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch mice. I'll pay you twenty dollars for that cat". And the owner said "Sold", and handed over the cat. As the collector headed for the door he turned and said, "Hey, for the twenty bucks I wonder if you could throw in that old saucer. The cat's used to it and it'll save me from having to get a dish." The owner replied, "Sorry buddy, but that's my lucky saucer. So far this week I've sold sixty-eight cats".

Obviously this collector seen value in that saucer. An important question for each of us to ask is: "What is valuable to me?"
Is it antiques? Is it cars or cash? Or How about a little bling bling?
What do we value? How about people?
Do people really matter to us? And if so how much?

In early June of 1995, the nation held it’s breath waiting to discover the fate of 29 year-old, Air Force captain Scott O’Grady.

As captain O’Grady few his F-16 over Bosnia on a routine air patrol, the Serbs fired a missile that ripped his plane in half.
As the aircraft erupted in flames, O’Grady parachuted to a wooded area below.
For six days, he hid in the woods, surviving on only grass and ants to eat.
Occasionally, he would send out a signal from a low-powered radio.
Back in the States, the government officials weighed the costs of sending in a rescue team to locate the pilot.
How many lives should be risked to save one man?
How much would it cost in fuel and the potential loss of further equipment?
The mission certainly would be very dangerous.
Yet despite all these considerations, it was concluded that the value of saving one life outweighed any of the potential costs.
It was a gutsy decision, but it turned out to be a successful one.
Tracing O’Grady’s signals as a guide the rescue team flew into his general location, and in just over 2 minutes, they had the downed pilot aboard their helicopter; headed for safety.

The majority of people around us have been shot down by the enemy, and unless they are rescued will die in captivity. Let's not get tunnel focused, there are Christians also that have been beaten down and have fallen away. How concerned are we about their precarious position?

The bottom line is "People Matter To God" so we should value people!
Although I hate to admit it, it's not uncommon for people like me and you, to fall prey to judging people. Sometimes we can start to think that God only cares about a select group of people. Only to realize that when we read the Bible that way of thinking is wrong. See there is this little verse in the Bible that has a big meaning. John 3:16 - For God loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
See God just doesn't love a select few, He loves EVERYONE. And when it comes to value, well what do you think? He gave His Son! Wow what a demonstration of love and value.
Jesus has asked us to do the same. to love and value people! Here are a few verses to read: Matthew 22:37-38 and John 13:34-35 and Luke 15.
We are to love all people, it doesn't matter the color of their skin, how big, how small, how rich, how poor, man, women, child, their clothes, their hair, their attitude, in prison, out of prison, tattoos, no tattoos, smoke drink you fill in the blank. Everyone who steps into our presence should feel welcomed. If they don't we need to evaluate our hearts.
Now here's an amazing thought: We never have and never will lock eyes with another human being who isn't valuable to God!
So let's start looking at people the way God looks at people, with love, value and compassion.

Just a pat on the back.

There was an old saying "If you want to get a chip off someones shoulder, give them a pat on the back". Over the last few days I've been really thinking about my lack of giving encouragement. It seems like it's really easy to make a negative comment to someone, but hard to give them a positive one. Over the last few days I've been sitting back and listening to people speak, and I can honestly say I didn't hear many encouraging conversations. We think it's funny to cut on what someone is wearing, or how they talk, walk, smile, sing, run, hair style, and whatever else comes to mind. Not thinking that we may hurt their feelings, just hoping that someone thought it was funny too. This is happening between kids and adults, not just one or the other. No wonder why there are so many unhappy people in the world, they have nothing to look forward to because someone is always cutting them down. What if we tried to change the way we talk. What if we tried to encourage two people a day, or maybe five. Do you think we would see a difference in people? Ephesians 4:29 says No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone in need, in order to give grace to those who hear.
Everyday we should be in the business of encouraging someone. Building them up so they can take on the world. I think back to Moses, God told Moses that he wasn't going to enter the promise land. The land that he had been thinking and dreaming about for many years. He wasn't going. I'm sure Moses didn't feel so good about that. Then God said to Moses, Joshua who is with you will enter it. So you need to encourage him, for he will be leading Israel to inherit it. That's crazy, Moses was just told he wasn't going, but he needed to encourage Joshua. Now that would be hard. The bottom line is that we need to encourage people, throw away the rotten talk and think about what we can say that would knock that chip off someones shoulder. So try it, try and encourage two to five people today!

Mission Possible

Every now and then I'm going to highlight a ministry that is getting it done for Jesus. This time let me tell you about Mission Possible. A friend of mine named Tara, told me about this concert that was taking place in Pandora, Ohio and that the band Pawn was going to be there. As soon as she told me that, I knew I was going ( I'm a fan of Pawn). The night was great, Pawn was great, but the thing that got me was the twenty minute presentation that Mission Possible shared about their ministry. It was awesome! They really got my attention as they explained the hard facts and layed out what they are trying to do in the Domincan Republic and Haiti. So I went to the concert, because I was a fan of Pawn, but when I left I couldn't stop talking about Mission Possible. That night I also had the privilege of meeting the President of Mission Possible Kurt, and his wonderful wife Julie. They are great people who love the Lord and serve Him diligently. Please pray for them as their task is huge. Here is a little info on Mission Possible.
Mission Possible has been around since 1979, starting off in Haiti. Then expanding into the Dominican Republic in 1987. Mission Possible has many ministries that they offer in these countries, and here they are, Christian Schools, Leadership Development, School and Church Construction, Community Development, and Short-Term Mission Teams.

Mission Possible is a hand-up, not a hand-out ministry. Those that benefit from our programs are expected to invest in their own future. For example, the families of students provide the school uniform and books and also contribute a small monetary amount towards their education. We know that a hand-out creates dependency relationships and an unhealthy self-image, whereas someone who contributes to their own success will value what they have earned.

Life is to short to let a day pass without hugging your loved ones.
Life is to short not to take a nap when you need one.
Life is to short to put off studying the Bible.
Life is to short to give importance to whether the towels match the bathroom.
Life is to short to miss out on Saturday night or Sunday morning worship.
Life is to short to stay indoors on a crisp fall day.
Life is to short to read all the junk mail and emails.
Life is to short to be depressed.
Life is to short not to call or write your parents (or children) regularly.
Life is to short to stay at a job that you hate.
Life is to short not to pray.
Life is to short to be angry.
Life is to short to put off improving our relationships with the people that we love.

Snow Angels & Snowmen

Well it's Sunday night and the kids are all snuggled up in their beds as I look outside and see a big mess. Thats right, a big mess. Seven inches of snow. I know many other places received much more than we did, and I know we don't live in Alaska. I just don't understand how on one day we can have a sixty two degree day then six days later everything is covered in snow. The question I keep asking myself, is why do I live here? I could live anywhere in the world, places with eighty degree days, white sandy beaches, crystal blue water. I think you get the point. But no, I live in Ohio. Where one day you can wear shorts, the next a snowmobile suit. I don't even like snow. I used to like snow, when I was about ten. I remember playing outside all day in the snow, from making snow angels to snowmen to snow ball fights. Oh yeah, and the best part, eating the snow (the white not the yellow). It was a great time. Now, you couldn't pay me to go out in it (well let me rethink that) unless the price was right. Maybe one day I will have a change of heart, and I will go outside and make the worlds biggest snowman. But until then, I will just keep thinkin' Spring.

What about church?

Do you attend a church every Sunday, twice a month, once in awhile, two times a year (Easter & Christmas), or not at all? Ask yourself one of these two questions. #1 Why do I go to church? #2 Why don't I go to church? I'm sure after asking these questions you had some great answers. Or maybe you just couldn't come up with a solid answer. Whatever the case may be we will go on. How do you see the church today? Is it a big building with a lot of people who use big words, look at you funny, and sing songs you don't know? Or maybe the message didn’t apply to the situations of today; the issues that you’re going through or have been through. For example sex, dating, finances, divorce, drugs, peer pressure, or just the ups and downs of life, to just name a few. Although this may be true in some churches, all churches are different.
I believe the church was put here to be the hands and feet of Jesus. To show the love of God to all that walk this earth. The one thing that is abundantly obvious to me is that church should be a place of worship. It should be a place that every one will experience the presence of God whether they realize it or not. It should be a place where you feel welcome. It should be a place where you feel at home. It should be a place where the refreshing Word of God is taught–not what the preacher saw happening in the hallway or some manmade doctrine, prohibiting makeup or pants. Hitting the topics that we deal with that are relevant with this generation, not four generations ago. And it should be a place where God is always present.
What does the bible say about going to church? Is this a must for “Christians” to attend a local church? I believe that it is essential as a believer to fellowship with others in a setting that allows you to grow in Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25) to be in an environment that fosters your personal growth. People are not perfect and neither is the Church. I think people forget that as children of God, we too have problems and situations that frustrate us, disappoint and even sadden us. The church needs to reestablish itself as place to build people up and not tear them down. There needs to be a new paradigm within the Church.
Times have changed and the Church has to change right along with it, based wholly on God’s word.
I don't know about you, but I want to attend a church that is relevant to my generation, now and the years to come.

What is up? Thanks for stopping by my blog. My name is Kevin Grubinski and I'm the Lead Pastor at LifePoint Community Church in Findlay,Ohio. If you're looking for the building, stop looking we don't have one yet. At this time we are building a launch team and making preparations. Yes I said launch team, we aren't going to plant LifePoint, but we are going to LAUNCH LifePoint. We are going to launch a church that is relevant to this generation, and ever changing to be relevant to the generations to come.
On July 20th we will have our first of three preview services, where you can come bring a friend and take a look at what we are all about. Our next preview services will be August 10th and September 7th . As we are going through the preview services we will be gearing up for our BIG LAUNCH on October 5th.
